Goodbye, Comcast
Do you have any idea how great it feels to break up with Comcast Cable?!?! LOL!!! After years of sitting on hold, waiting for them to show up for service calls and incorrect bill charges, we kicked Comcast TV to the curb. That was such a feeling of freedom!
After receiving the Comcast Cable bill in his email inbox, Bobby started researching the ability to get rid of cable altogether. It took him about 1 day to decide… We were getting rid of cable, keeping the internet and saving money! I love a man who wants to save money on the monthly stuff so we can use it for the fun stuff!! 😉 So, he went through the house one day (while the kids were all at school and work, of course), disconnected all of the cable boxes and rounded up all the remotes – actually finding ALL of them… what a miracle! We placed them in a box we found in the garage and we were off! To the Comcast store we went. While we were there, we talked with a Comcast Representative who was fantastic. I don’t remember her name, but it started with an “A”. She laughed at our stupid jokes, made us feel welcome and, ultimately, saved us money. Shout out to the one and only Comcast Representative who has ever actually been helpful!!! We still owe you a Grande Caramel Macchiato, girl!!!
Now, I have to be honest. We did keep their internet service because it’s the strongest signal in our area. “A” showed us how we could get the service we needed, kick the cable and landline and save a big chunk of money. Oh… and the wifi service was faster! Sold! As Website and Media developers, a strong wifi signal is essential, so we took the bait. Now, there are no more charges for channels that never get watched. Let’s face it, everything the kids watch is on NetFlix or YouTube anyway. Or they are on their phones, tablets, computers or XBox’s (how do I make XBox plural?). They use wifi way more than cable. Also, our local library has a large selection of movies we can check out for a week at at time. And guess what??? It’s free! I love free! LOL!!
When the kids got home, Bobby simply said “oh, by the way, we don’t have cable anymore.” At first, they were a little light headed. One of them had to breathe into a paper bag… Just kidding! They took it very well and collectively decided they would all be fine. They were right! It’s been about a month since we made the change and there has not been one word of the missing channels. Well done, daddy!
Getting rid of the cable & landline portion of our bill saved us over $120 per month. Cha-Ching! More money saved every month! This feels good. We’re taking this time before we go tiny to start reducing our footprint by lowering our bills, getting rid of the things we don’t need and downsizing a little at a time. Today’s mission Accomplished.
