renovating el coache’ – the couch
The Couch
After sitting in el Coache’ for so long, staring at the boring cream colored walls, I just started working on the renovation.
In a Class C Motorhome, there’s not a lot of room to leave things lying around, let alone have a big project happening. So I’ve found that working in sections, one section at a time, is the easiest way to work and gives me a bigger sense of accomplishment.
The very first section we worked on in el Coache’ was the Couch area. Since we were parked in our warehouse at the time, the bump out where the couch is couldn’t be pushed out due to size constraints (and all the storage on that side of the warehouse). Space is a little bit of an issue inside the trailer, but we worked around it just fine.
It didn’t take long for me to realize the front of the couch could be removed to expose the storage area. It was easy to remove. There are only a few screws holding it on. I measured the area underneath and turned to Amazon to find baskets that would fit (Find our Amazon Shopping List here). These were a perfect match! That area is now the perfect storage for Bobby’s clothes.
As we all know, every renovation requires investigation, so I got to work. Being allergic to mold, my sniffer can tell if there’s a problem pretty quickly. Turns out, everything looked (and smelled) great! Just needed a good cleaning. Since there was no mold and it was still in good shape, we stapled and hammered down the vinyl flooring that had lifted up, making it easier to slide the baskets underneath.
Being a frugal girl, I grabbed these 2 rolls of adhesive paper that I had purchased long before that were just sitting in my house waiting to be used. Originally purchased to spruce up the kitchen, they were now being repurposed in a really fun way. I love the beach and a relaxed boho vibe, so this paper worked perfectly!
OOPS!!! Wallpaper can be tricky. Even though I had 2 rolls (which should have been enough), somehow I cut a piece wrong and ended up with a miss-matched section of paper. I was pretty disappointed. But when I sat the couch back up, it couldn’t be seen… so I got over it pretty quickly. LOL! Can you spot the mix up?
